Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to receive my caricature?
Normal turnaround time is about 2-3 weeks from the time an order is received, but I will be happy to do whatever I can to make sure you have your caricature on time. If you need a project in less than 3 weeks, pleaseĀ email me beforehand to make sure my schedule will allow, and it shouldn’t be a problem. Occasionally expedited shipping may be required at an additional cost.

What size are your caricatures?
The most popular finished sizes are 11″ x 14″ and 8″ x 10″. Both of these sizes are traditional artwork dimensions and make it easy to find standard mats and frames. However, I will be happy to create your custom caricature at any size that you desire. There is no additional charge for any dimensions smaller than 11″ x 14″. We can also easily create poster-sized prints up to 24″ x 36″ or larger banners for an additional cost. If you don’t specify otherwise, your finished caricature will be 11″ x 14″.

What type of photos should I send?
A clear photo that is a good representation of the person’s appearance works best. Snapshots work just as well as professional portraits as long as the details are clear and the face is at least as large as a quarter. Sending more than one photo is always a great idea. It is very helpful to specify which photo is the most recent if details in the photos vary (for example: the person has cut or colored their hair, lost weight, grown a beard, etc.)

Do you need everyone together in one photo for a group caricature?
No. In fact, individual photos often work better because the faces are larger than in team or group photos. Also, it is helpful to mention when a particular person is exceptionally tall or short as it may affect how they are shown in relation to the others in the group.

Will my photos be returned?
Absolutely. If you choose to mail photos, I will take great care of them and return them with the finished caricature.

Can I use my caricature for advertising?
No. The pricing shown on the website does not include commercial usage (for example: a logo, business cards, website, billboard, etc). If you would like a caricature for business and advertising use, I’ll still be happy to create one for you. Just let me know before we begin what you have in mind, and I can provide pricing information for commercial copyright use.
